21-Year-Old Woman Arrested in 2 Robberies, Shooting Outside Philly Gun Ranges

Samiyyah Poteat is accused in two robberies outside Philadelphia gun ranges and shops. In one, police say a 67-year-old man was shot in the thigh.

Philadelphia police have announced the arrest of a woman accused of two robberies outside Philadelphia gun shops, including one where the victim was shot.

Samiyyah Poteat, 21, was taken into custody Friday for her alleged involvement in the two gunpoint robberies. She lives near 46th and Walnut in West Philadelphia. The first alleged robbery took place on June 11th outside The Gun Range, near Percy and Spring Garden streets in the East Poplar/Eraserhood/Loft District/Spaghetti Warehouse neighborhood. Police say Poteat’s accomplice took a backpack containing two .22 caliber handguns while Poteat took items from the victim’s pockets.

The second alleged incident occurred the following day, June 12th, at Delaware Valley Sports Center, a gun shop and shooting range in Bustleton near the old Budd Company plant. A 67-year-old man was found shot in the thigh outside the range. He was taken to Aria-Torresdale, where he’s in critical but stable condition. News reports at the time said seven guns were stolen in that robbery.

Poteat’s alleged accomplice remains at large. She has been charged with aggravated assault, robbery, theft unlawful taking, simple assault and related offenses.
