Katie McGinty Running for Pennsylvania Democratic Chair

In the race for state Democratic chair, Katie McGinty will attempt to unseat Jim Burn, who's been chair since 2010.

Katie McGinty — the Democrat who ran a positive campaign for governor this year (and, partially as a result, finished dead last) — is running for Pennsylvania Democratic chair. She’s being supported by the winner of that Democratic gubernatorial primary, Tom Wolf.

Wolf has also thrown his support behind Rep. Jake Wheatley, of Allegheny, for the vice chair position.

The current state Democratic party chairman is Jim Burn, who was first elected to the office in 2010. He was mayor of Millvale, a borough in Southwestern Pennsylvania, for 12 years, then held various county-level positions in Allegheny County. McGinty was previously an environmental officer in the Clinton presidency and environmental protection secretary under Pennsylvania Gov. Ed Rendell.

The Pennsylvania Dems have their annual meeting in Camp Hill on June 20th and 21st.
