Ex-Phillie Dykstra: I Was Beaten in Jail

A lawsuit filed by the star of the 1993 Phillies says he was beaten by deputies in 2012.

Hey, remember the 1993 Phillies? Weren’t they great? That team of roided-up, beer-swilling everybodies almost won the World Series! Sure, they lost to a team in Canada in the end, but we’ll always have the memories. Hey, the star of that team was Lenny Dysktra! Hit .305, slugged .482, led the league in hits and runs and walks and only didn’t win MVP because the greatest baseball player ever won it. He’s in the news again, as you can see from the cool screenshot above. Wonder why he’s wearing that hat?

Anyway, what’s our ol’ pal Lenny Dykstra been up to?

The alleged beating occurred in April 2012, the same month Dykstra pleaded no contest to exposing himself to women he met on Craigslist.

Oh. Well.

Lenny Dykstra, who was released from prison last year after serving time on a bankruptcy fraud charge, alleges in a lawsuit filed Wednesday that he was beaten by sheriff’s deputies until he was “barely breathing.” The suit also says officials at the jail tried to stop him from speaking out about the incident.
