Guv Candidate Unveils “Legalize Marijuana” Billboard
John Hanger makes it the centerpiece of his campaign.
Philadelphia Weekly points out that Democratic gubernatorial candidate John Hanger has unveiled “Legalize Marijuana” billboards in Erie and Scranton, suggesting they’re the first pro-weed billboards ever put up by a major-party candidate.
But why Scranton and Erie? Hanger’s political director Roger Cohen says it’s a combination of “good fortune” and “strong growing support in those smaller urban centers” of Northeast and Northwest Pennsylvania.
“We’re finding a lot of strength in terms of feedback in those regions,” he says. “People are energized by the [marijuana] legalization aspect of the campaign.”
And why not? It might be Philly’s best chance at a Super Bowl.
