Student Brings Loaded Gun to Philly Charter School

17-year-old in custody; intentions were unclear.

CBS Philly reports a 17-year-old student of Dubois Collegiate Academy, a Philadelphia charter school, is in custody this morning after bringing a loaded gun to school.

According to investigators, a 17-year-old student entered the school and teachers noticed the student was acting suspiciously.

After talking with the student, schools officials found a fully loaded .45 caliber handgun in his school bag.

The investigation into the gun discovery is in the early stages and it was not immediately known what the student’s intentions were.

The incident happened shortly after 9 am. The school is located in the 5000 block of Parkside Avenue, near Fairmount Park in northwest Philadelphia.
