Unlike the Montgomery County gay marriages, this one will have a bit more legal legitimacy behind it.

“Mayor David DelVecchio, a Democrat, said he will perform the state’s first legal gay marriage ceremony for Beth Asaro and Joanne Schailey at midnight three weeks from today, as long as a judge doesn’t grant a stay of the Sept. 27 ruling.”

Lambertville, along with sister city New Hope, has a vibrant gay population. DelVecchio also officiated over one of Jersey’s first civil unions, in 2007. [Bloomberg]
