Flare-Ups Continue In Jersey Shore Boardwalk Fire

Flare-ups continued yesterday in the Jersey Shore fire that started Thursday in a small ice cream shop, blazing up at around 2:20 a.m. at the southern end of the boardwalk. Firemen extinguished the blaze by 3 a.m., but will monitor the area until 6 p.m. today.

Thankfully, a relatively small after-burn in another devastating event for the Jersey Shore. Unfortunately, though, investigators still aren’t exactly what caused the initial blaze, which damaged more than 20 boardwalk businesses last week.

Gov. Christie, meanwhile, did just what any public official in his situation would do—that is, promise to rebuild. Seems like he’s been having to doing an awful lot of that lately:

“I know we have lost a place that has provided generations of memories to our citizens,” he said on Friday. “We will rebuild. We will make new memories for our families. Because that’s what we do.”
