Miss Richfield 1981 Stars in New Philly LGBT Travel Ad

The kook-tastic drag queen will be featured in an ad taking selfies at popular historic sites in Philadelphia.

The Greater Philadelphia Tourism Marketing Corp. (GPTMC) debuted a Philly LGBT travel ad starring popular East Coast drag act Miss Richfield 1981. In it, the campy dame runs around her “favorite city” and snaps selfies at popular historic sites like Independence Hall, the Liberty Bell and Boat House Row.

GPTMC President and CEO Meryl Levitz says Miss Richfield’s spot marks the 10th anniversary of GPTMC’s cleverly named “Get your history straight and your nightlife gay” campaign: “Ten years ago, Philadelphia was proud to officially ‘come out’ as a gay-friendly destination when we invited LGBT travelers to visit,” she says in a press release. “With our new commercial, we’re going beyond our history roots and reiterating our invitation, celebrating both the city’s evolution into a premier destination and the LGBT community’s progress over the last decade.”

It will begin airing next month on the Bravo and Style networks in Philly and D.C.. and on Logo nationally. For now, though, you can give it a peek in the YouTube vid below.
