Mark Segal Inducted Into LGBT Journalists Hall of Fame

Boisterous local publisher Mark Segal has been inducted into the National Lesbian and Gay Journalists Association’s LGBT Journalists Hall of Fame for his 38-year career in building the Philadelphia Gay News. Inducted alongside the Bay Area Reporter‘s Bob Ross, Segal was credited in a statement with creating one of the “most well-respected and enduring LGBT publications in the country” since PGN first went to print in 1976. The LGBT Journalists Hall of Fame was created in 2005 to honor reporters and editors who dedicate themselves to LGBT issues in the media, and has since honored just 23 such individuals. Segal, for his part, was “overwhelmed with emotion” at the honor. [Advocate]
