Attorney General Won’t Defend PA’s Gay Marriage Ban

Tuesday the ACLU, representing several same-sex couples, filed a lawsuit against Pennsylvania’s gay marriage ban. One of the defendants named was Attorney General Kathleen Kane. The catch: Kane, a Democrat, will announce today that she’s not actually going to defend the law in court, echoing a decision the Obama administration made with DOMA. The plaintiffs in the case are 10 same-sex couples and one widow who either want the right to marry here or have their marriages from other states recognized in Pennsylvania. [Daily News]
