One Death, One Illness Prompt Whole Foods Cheese Recall
Attention Whole Foods shoppers: That cheese in your basket might be home to a lovely little pathogen known as Listeria monocytogenes. The cheese in question, labeled in Pennsylvania and select New Jersey stores as Crave Bros. Les Frères, has been recalled in 30 states and D.C. Listeria monocytogenes is the bacteria behind listeriosis, a central nervous system disease that could results in a form of meningitis in people with weak immune systems or children, and stillbirths in pregnant women. So far, there has been one death and one illness — be sure to check your cheese here. [USA Today]
