Why Chris Christie Threatened to Say “Fuck” During GOP Convention Speech

Not just that–he was going to do it as part of an elaborately staged temper tantrum. According to a campaign book being released by the Washington Post‘s Dan Balz (CNN obtained a copy), Republican National Convention organizers were worried that Christie’s speech would run long and take them past the 11 p.m. mark when the broadcast was supposed to end. So they decided to cut an introductory video the governor had planned. When he got wind of this, Christie went apoplectic.

“Christie told her to ask the director if he had ever heard anyone say ‘f***’ on live television, because that’s what he was about to do if the video didn’t run.”
