Playdar: Bet You Forgot to Put These 5 Songs On Your Madonna Playlist

Five little-talked-about Madge tunes that need more love.

Every Friday, G Philly resident DJ Patrick DeMarco mixes a playlist of tunes to take you into the weekend. This week, he’s got some Madonna numbers that probably need more love on your Madge playlist.

I’ve been obsessed with Madonna ever since I was 4 years old, when I would play her second album, Like A Virgin, on my Fisher Price tape player. From that first listen, I was an instant fan. Through the years, I’ve collected hundreds of songs, been to a handful of tours and played her albums on repeat.  Her 2005 album, Confessions On A Dancefloor, was my coming out album, I could’t have asked for a better soundtrack during that time in my life.

Anyway, this week, I want to share some of my personal favorites with everyone.  These aren’t neccessarily her biggest hits, but they all deserve more rotation on your Madonna playlist. All of these songs make me move, live and just feel good. For instance, “Spotlight” is a shining beacon of light that pushes me toward center stage in life. “Your Honesty” and “Push,” are some of my go-to workout, giving me that extra fire in the gym. The slinky groove of “Survival” helps me let things go, and accept things the way they are. And “Dance 2night” is what I put on while getting ready to go out and, maybe, get into a little trouble. I hope everyone enjoys my favorites as much as I do!

1. “Spotlight” (You Can Dance, 1987)

2. “Survival” (Bedtime Stories, 1994)

3. “Push” (Confessions on a Dancefloor, 2005)

4. “Your Honesty” (Remixed and Revisited, 2003)

5. “Dance 2Night” (Feat. Justin Timberlake) (Hard Candy, 2008)
