Castro’s Daughter Coming To Philly For Gay Rights Award

AP reports that Mariela Castro, the daughter of retired Cuban dictator Fidel Castro, will visit Philadelphia this weekend to accept a gay rights award from Equality Forum. The visit had been in doubt; the State Department initially denied her a visa to attend the event. Mariela Castro is the director of Cuba’s National Center for Sex Education and, given her position, the country’s most prominent gay rights activist.
