Weekend Roundup: William Way Is Looking For a Woman’s Touch
This may come as a surprise to some of you, but William Way Community Center (WWCC) Executive Director Chris Bartlett is looking for a woman — a whole bunch of women, actually. But don’t get in too much of a tizzy; it’s not quite as scandalous as it sounds.
The WWCC’s main man is in the beginning stages of putting together a women’s steering committee that he hopes will generate more female interest in the Center’s busy activity schedule, and inspire some to take on leadership roles. To get it started, he’s reached out to several women in Mount Airy and the surrounding burbs to see what he needs to do to pique their interest. The answer was simple and kind of obvious: Bring more events to our neighborhood.
This Sunday, Bartlett is heeding their call by throwing a swanky reception in Northwest Philly for LBTI women and straight allies. The party is taking place in turn-of-the-century mansion The Albatross (254 W. Walnut Lane) and will include a buffet brunch, a wine-and-beer bar and live music. Ticket prices ($25) benefit William Way’s ongoing women’s programs and the womens’ grant and scholarship program at Delaware Valley Legacy Fund. To purchase tickets, visit waygay.org.
