Tonight: Teena Geist Ascends the Stairway Symphony at Plato’s Porno Cave

Plus: NSFW is looking for a few sexy farm boys and the Phreak N' Queer Festival keeps things rocking with the Homophones.

As you’ve seen on G Philly, there is no shortage of drag queens in Philadelphia. Each and every one of them bring something unique to the table — from live singing and one-of-a-kind costumes to just having the balls to let a little chest hair shine through. And then there’s Teena Geist (aka Mark McCloughan of No Face Performance Group). Self-described as “a wild young thing with a history of violence and a key to her mom’s medicine cabinet,” Geist performs in a creepy mask and, despite being a little intimidating (don’t believe me?), is wildly talented, incorporating storytelling, burlesque, cabaret and dance into her arm-hair-raising performances.

Tonight she’s slinking into Plato’s Porno Cafe to perform the “The Stairway Symphony,” where she’ll tap into her arsenal of talents to “wreak havoc upon preconceived notions of youth experience.” The show will feature live tech by Spencer Sheridan and live sound by Barrymore Award winner Rosie Langabeer (Pig Iron Theater Company, BalletX, Inis Nua). The evening will also include a performance by PuppetTyranny!.

The show will take place tonight at Little Berlin Gallery (2430 Coral St.) at 8 p.m. There’s a suggested donation of $5-$10 that will be collected at the door.
