VIDEO: Bob Costas Outrageously Has Opinions About Non-Sports Stuff

Eagles fans might’ve been so frustrated and angry at their team’s performance against the Cowboys on NBC’s Sunday Night Football may not have noticed that halftime host Bob Costas did his level-best to outrage, well, everybody else—or, at least, gun rights advocates. Commenting on the tragic murder-suicide involving Kansas City Chiefs linebacker Jovan Belcher, Costas quoted writer Jason Whitock in suggesting that “if Jovan Belcher didn’t possess a gun, he and Kasandra Perkins would both be alive today.” Twitter immediately exploded with anger—much of it coming from gun-loving viewers promising never to watch football on NBC again. (And to be fair, some folks don’t like to mix hot-button political firestorms with their weekend football entertainment.) Back in Philadelphia, though, Daily News reporter Morgan Zalot wondered plaintively: “Part of me is curious about whether Bob Costas is aware that six people were shot to death this weekend in Philly.”  [The Week]
