Mayor Nutter Says Shelters Already Holding 150 People
Mayor Michael Nutter says he’s pleased with the pace of neighborhood evacuations in the face of Hurricane Sandy. Three city shelters are already filling with evacuees. “The count was at 150 plus across the three shelters that’s adults children as well as pets dogs cats a turtle and a spider,” Nutter told a press conference this afternoon. He warned Philadelphians to stay hunkered down. “The reality is I’ve been out since early this morning it is getting colder, there is more rain and it’s very windy and it’s and it will only pick up.” [NewsWorks]
