City Council Ponders Anti-Skateboarding Measure

A new measure, endorsed by Mayor Nutter’s administration and labeled as “anti-skateboarding” by some, has made it out of a committee and will considered for reading on Thursday. The bill will significantly increase the fine imposed on people observed “vandalizing” public art while on skateboards. The fine imposed on someone not on a skateboard will be $200 (or $75 if they plead no contest and pay within eight days). Skateboarders, though, will face a fine of up to $2,000. [Metro]
