Prepare for the Great Bacon Famine of 2013

Britain’s National Pig Association has issued a press release indicating that the looming global pork shortage is “unavoidable.” International failure of maize and soya harvests have caused a spike in the cost of pig feed. Thus, pig farmers are losing money and dramatically reducing the size of their herds. Pork prices in Europe could double by the second half of 2013. The change is expected to have a global impact, which means we’re running out to buy entire shelves of bacon in preparation. At some point in the near future, we’ll hold a lottery to see who will gain entry to our Bacon Bunker as we prepare for the Great Bacon Famine of 2013. It will sleep eight comfortably. [Gawker]
