Chooch Returns For Weekend Homestand, Phillies Still Aiming For .500


In an unexpectedly dreadful season, the Phillies enter the final weeks of 2012 playing for little more than pride—and, maybe, a chance to at least finish above .500 for the year. That’s going to be tough: They enter a weekend series with the Colorado Rockies still scraping along at five games under the break-even mark. And as always, they’ve got good news and bad news. On the upside, catcher Carlos Ruiz is returning from the disabled list to try to help his teammates make a final charge. But he’s being replaced on the DL by second basement Placido Polanco.
