PA Department of Health Drops Birth Certificate Replacement Fee

Voter ID exclusion schemes be damned in Pennsylvania: the Department of Vital Records has decided to drop the birth certificate fee for PA natives attempting to get a PennDOT-issued voter ID. Ordinarily, that course of action takes something like 10 days and at least two stops at a Driver’s License Center, but thanks to Act 18 of 2012, the process has been streamlined. In addition, the Department of Health is offering refunds to anyone who has already paid the old $10 birth certificate fee. Looks like there are Good Guy Gregs in local government, after all. [DOH]
