Philadelphia Distilling’s Booze Bill Passes

Welcome to the 21st Century, PLCB

In the December issue of Philly Mag, we profiled Philadelphia Distilling Company master distiller and partner Robert Cassell, who has been lobbying in favor of H.B. 242, a bill that would allow his company (and any other small Pennsylvania distilleries) to sell their products on site, as wineries and breweries can already do. Cassell testified before a Senate committee in October, and yesterday, the Senate voted 40-9 to pass the bill, which Governor Corbett is expected to sign. After the bill becomes law, the company plans to open a more tourist-friendly facility near Center City, as opposed to the drab one in the godforsaken section of Northeast Philadelphia where it is currently located.
