Jimmy Rollins and Ruben Amaro Jr. Press Conference

Jimmy wants five years and Amaro thinks the team is good to go

This afternoon Jimmy Rollins and Ruben Amaro Jr. sat down with the media at Citizens Bank Park. Rollins said that he’ll be working with the Phillies first to see if a deal can be worked out for a five year contract or where he has a fifth year option. Amaro wouldn’t publicly comment about the contract negotiations but did say that the team wants Rollins back. He also said that he doesn’t expect Howard to miss half of next year and that he wants the team to get a bit younger over the offseason. Hitting was a hot topic during the discussion and Amaro said that the team will look to take a different approach at the plate moving forward. He also talked about Ryan Madson’s free agency, Polanco and Pence’s medical status and what the team will be focused on in the front office and on the diamond during the offseason. [Crossing Broad]
