Sports Radio WIP to Simulcast on FM
Turns out the rumors were true. Just a couple of days after demoting Howard Eskin, sports radio station WIP confirmed today it will begin simulcasting on 94.1 FM (formerly WYSP), beginning right after Labor Day. The move comes as the station has been battling with upstart FM sports talk station 97.5 The Fanatic, which has grabbed a chunk of the sports audience in the last couple of years. As part of the move, WIP—which will go by the moniker SportsRadio 94 WIP—has re-jiggered its lineup. The most notable change: Comcast SportsNet host Michael Barkann will team up with former Eagle Ike Reese on the 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. shift. Anthony Gargano and Glenn Macnow move to the 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. slot (part of which had previously been occupied by Eskin and Reese).
