Is the Right Wing Using Rachel Maddow?

The lesbian political pundit waxes on Santorum and other GOP candidates at their most desperate

MSNBC’s Rachel Maddow, host of The Rachel Maddow Show, recently took a jab at GOP hopefuls who are using her popularity among liberals to woo more conservative voters. In a recent segment on her popular show, Maddow – an out lesbian – shared her take on how folks – like presidential contender and former PA senator Rick Santorum – are handing out insults (he called her a smut peddler) in hopes of appealing to conservative voters. Former President George Bush, Sr., even called her a sick puppy.

She said, “It’s very flattering to have people try to raise money off of sheer outrageousness of the mention of your name or your description, especially when you’ve never met them. …It’s flattering and also hilarious.”

One of the clips shows Sarah Palin referring to Maddow’s angry, vein-popping neck, while another offers up a robo-call from former Ohio congressman Bob Ney, who called her a “cross-dressing lesbian.”

Desperate, anyone? Not long after sending out the calls, Ney eventually went to prison over an illegal financial disgrace with a lobbyist.
