Judge Issues Compromise for Philadelphia Orchestra and Musicians’ Union

Union gets access to financial documents

The American Federation of Musicians is positing that the Philadelphia Orchestra Association should cough up some of its $140 million in endowments if it will be withdrawing from the union’s pension plan. Monday’s ruling set forth a discovery process allows the union to access documents that will provide a more educated assessment of the association’s financial situation and also provides a path toward obtaining other documents that may be pertinent to evaluating the situation.
