Cole Hamels Leaves Game with Injured Hand

One of Philly's aces took a line drive to the hand in the fourth inning today

This isn’t the healthiest the Phillies pitchers have ever been. Starters Joe Blanton and Roy Oswalt are on the disabled list—as are relief hurlers Contreras, Lidge and Madson. And now, this afternoon, Cole Hamels left the game after taking an Adrian Gonzalez line drive off his gloved hand. Hamels had allowed only two hits through four innings, but did not return to the bump for the fifth. Luckily, the Phillies have already announced that x-rays were negative. He’s listed as day-to-day and should make his next start. The Scoop was glad he didn’t have to hold his breath too long on that one. [Crossing Broad]
