Justin Guarini to Star in Media Theatre’s “Chicago”

Inaugural "American Idol" runner-up to play Billy Flynn

The Media Theatre has announced that Justin Guarini—of American Idol season one fame—has been cast in the company’s rendition of “Chicago.”

Guarini has garnered fantastic reviews from the New York Times and Los Angeles Times for his previous musical roles. The failed-pop-star-turned-thespian was recently in the punk-goes-Broadway themed “American Idiot” and played a key role in “Women on the Verge of a Nervous Breakdown.”

“After I saw Justin in Broadway’s ‘American Idiot’ and ‘Women On The Verge’ I felt he would bring a new and excitingly different dimension to the role of Billy Flynn,” said Media Theatre’s Artistic Director Jesse Cline.

The show, which kicks off the Media Theatre’s 2011-12 schedule, will run from late September to early November and is directed by two-time Barrymore Award-winning actress Jennie Eisenhower.
