Trump Taken to Task

Gay rights leader criticizes the Donald for his anti-gay marriage comments

Allen Roskoff wrote the country’s first-ever gay rights bill in the 1970s. Today, the New York activist is asking supporters of LGBT rights to boycott Donald Trump’s NBC TV show Celebrity Apprentice after the possible presidential contender said he’s against marriage equality.

The New York Daily News is reporting that during a recent interview, Trump – who’s considering a run for president on the republican ticket – said he does not support marriage and civil unions for same-sex couples.

Roskoff, who was the first openly gay official appointed in New York City, is calling Trump an “extreme bigot.” He hopes that more gays and lesbians are outraged by Trump’s opposition to gay rights. He is also asking that advertisers reconsider supporting his TV show.

The Daily News also reports that while Trump has been adopting more conservative stances (he’s now pro-life), his daughter Ivanka reportedly attended a reception in support of the freedom to marry in New York City.

What do you think? Would you vote Trump for president? Will you boycott his hit TV show?
