Gay Man Wins Temporary Stay in Philly

But the native Indonesian's delay of deportation isn't permanent - yet

GPhilly reported that on Valentine’s Day, Anton Tanumihardja risked being deported from Philadelphia – where he’s lived and worked for almost a decade – to his native Indonesia where he could be persecuted because of his sexual orientation. The good news is that Tanumihardja – who’s in a relationship with a man in Philly – was granted a temporary stay of deportation. The downside? It’s only temporary. Tanumihardja is still fighting for asylum for fear that he may become the victim of a hate crime if he returns to Indonesia on the grounds that he’s gay, Catholic and Chinese. He discussed his appeal with Newsworks.
