GLAAD is Mad at SNL

The gay watchdog group is asking NBC to apologize for a recent transgender skit

Saturday Night Live is in hot water with GLAAD over a skit depicting pre-op male-to-female transsexuals. The gay entertainment watchdog group says the skit – which depicts men with facial hair as transgender women in a mock commercial for estrogen-replacement therapy called “Estro-Maxxx” – is “transphobic” and wants Philly-based Comcast and recently acquired NBC to apologize.

“This segment cannot be defended as ‘just a joke’ because there was no ‘joke’ to speak of,” blogged GLAAD recently. “The attempted comedy of the skit hinges solely on degrading the lives and experiences of transgender women.”

So is the skit even funny? And is it something LOGO’s gay-friendly comedy group The Big Gay Sketch Show might also tackle? See for yourself:
