Good Life: Model Citizen: Norrinda Brown Hayat

Everything woman

Page through the chic black Moleskine notebook of civil rights attorney and bakery co-founder Norrinda Brown Hayat, and you’ll find lists snaking down its pages. Every day, she plucks the notebook from her slouchy-cool Foley + Corinna tote and jots down her to-dos, which lately include helping her mom, grandmother and sister open their largest Brown Betty yet, a 2,500-square-foot, cupcake-heavy operation in Northern Liberties. Other times, she’s scrawling notes for legal briefs, which she’ll deliver in three-and-a-half-inch navy Tory Burch heels that she wears “more than I probably need to, for my job.” Her recipe for the perfect closet: a splash of color (bright yellow pants from J.Crew), a bit of structure (“I’m belting everything”), a dash of feminine (Kate Spade), a pinch of vintage (a gold peacock necklace on “permanent loan” from Grandmom), and one eclectic standout (her new pair of ’70s-glam Heidi Merrick black-and-gold sequined pants — for her rare moments of downtime).
