Kimpton Rates First for LGBT Travelers

Philly ranked among top gay destinations

In Philly, the Kimpton’s Hotel Palomar is among the more chic boutique lodging options for jet-setting tourists visiting town. And among LGBT travelers, the Kimpton chain ranked first in a recent survey by Community Marketing, an agency that has been studying LGBT travel and marketing trends for almost 20 years.

According to the survey of more than 4,700 people, Kimpton was chosen as the popular favorite, usurping the title from Starwood’s very gay-friendly W chain, as well as the Hilton, Hyatt and Marriott hotels.

The agency says this year’s results were based on how effectively the hotel reaches out to gay and lesbian travelers. “We are always on the hunt for new ways to make guests feel taken care of when they stay with us,” said Niki Leondakis, president and COO of Kimpton Hotels & Restaurants, in a press statement. As well as being a beacon for LGBT folks, the chain also pampers pets (earning plenty of gay points).

In a separate survey, Community Marketing also ranked Philadelphia 11th in the Top 25 U.S. Destinations for American LGBT Travelers, beating out popular gay resorts like Provincetown, New Orleans and Miami.

See what some famous New Yorkers had to say about visiting Philly this year (even though, sadly, gay-owned Foster’s Homeware – which is mentioned in this video – closed its doors):
