Younger Men, Older Women

Are May-December romances kosher? Plus: How to entertain your girlfriend's kids in and around Philly

Monica,
How do you feel about an age gap in relationships, particularly when it involves an older woman and a younger man? —J.P., Chestnut Hill

Men have been dating younger women for years. Why shouldn’t women have their shot? Age is more a function of maturity than numbers. Some men can look at the whole picture, taking into account the pluses of being with someone older than themselves. If your guy brings you joy and happiness then the relationship is a winner. Take a page from the celebrity notebook.

In doing so, first we must acknowledge the groundbreaking work of Joan Collins. She paved the way for all of the Raquels, Mariahs, Demis and Kylies of the world. These ladies have shown us that this kind of arrangement is completely workable. Since it is well known that women sexually peak later in their lives  then men, let nature be your guide. Older women with younger men can make for the perfect couple.

Dear Monica,
I am a single man in my late 30’s who is dating a woman with two little kids. What are some ideas of kid-friendly activities around Philadelphia?  —O.S., Old City

Kudos to you for taking time and initiative with her kids. Local area amusement parks are a great way to entertain the little ones and beat the summer heat. Most have water parks associated with them to keep you cool. Langhorne’s Sesame Place or Dutch Wonderland in Lancaster are really fun destinations. As far as indoor activities go, the kids would love exploring the Crayola Factory in Easton. In the city, I would also definitely recommend Fairmount Park’s crown jewel, the Please Touch Museum as well as Franklin Square, which features the Lightning Bolt Express Train along with miniature golf. Just across the Ben Franklin Bridge is the Adventure Aquarium and the Camden River Sharks Baseball Park. For a night in Old City, have dinner at Continental and dessert at the Franklin Fountain. These are the memories to hold on to when all of you are together in January as 18 inches of snow is falling and school is canceled!
