Where We’re Eating: Ro-Zu
Ro-Zu, Queen Village
Forget the ho-hum service, the weird decor, and the bizarre digital slide-show of Japan on a TV in the middle of the room:This new 25-seat BYO (with additional seating for 16 outside) still manages to be a star of a sushi house. The kitchen makes a point of steering you toward sashimi- as opposed to maki-in order to best showcase the skillfully prepared, super-fresh fish. (How fresh? Go in the morning to see chef Todd Dae Kulper wrestle eels and unpack live in-shell scallops.) The omakase ranges from $35 to $80 per person, and is an ideal wy to dive into this little gem. Insider tip: An $18 bottle of Trimbach riesling was the perfect accompaniment to the delicate raw dishes. 700 South 7th Street, 267-273-0885.
