Rent It: The Road (R, 2009). A man and his boy struggle and survive in a post-apocalyptic landscape. It’s an unforgiving, brutal and sometimes hard to watch film that is a little too faithful to Cormac McCarthy’s classic book. My Grade: C

Queue It: I’ve Loved You So Long (R, 2009). Kristin Scott Thomas stars as a woman struggling to reconnect with her family after being in prison for 15 years. Be amazed that Thomas’ astonishingly realized performance was somehow completely ignored by the Academy Awards. My Grade: A-
