Taste: Spirits: Drink Here Now: Tasting Room at Yards
What: Yards Brewery’s new on-site pub/tasting room.
Date opened: January 2010.
Vibe: Industrial and communal.
Beer: Six Yards beers on tap; out-of-season beers by the bottle; six-packs, cases and kegs to go, some for a better price than at distributors.
Signature brew: Yards will insist it’s the Philadelphia Pale Ale, but we prefer Poor Richard’s Tavern Spruce Ale — brewed from a recipe by Ben Franklin himself.
Eats: Soups and sandwiches. (The homemade chili is popular.)
Prices: Pints and flights are only $5.
Clear your Saturday: Tours on Saturday afternoons are free — complete with complimentary beers
