Taste: Dining Out: Where We’re Eating: Green Eggs Cafe
Green Eggs Café
East Passyunk
In a perfect city, every other block would have a modern luncheonette like this sunny spot, where the coffee is La Colombe, the toast arrives in little wire baskets, and the potatoes roasted with peppers and onions epitomize the neighborhood’s mix of lifers and hipsters. The doublewide cafe is built according to LEED specs, and the menu sources local (and therefore “green”) eggs for a spoton Benedict (plus a Phillyfied version on a pretzel roll, with pork loin, cream cheese and béarnaise), crème brûlée French toast, and warm, cardamomspiked quinoa with golden raisins. Insider tip: All kids’ portions are $5.
