Pulse: Chatter: Quotable: U.S. Congressman Bob Brady
U.S. Congressman Bob Brady on his early efforts to land Philadelphia the Democratic National Convention in 2012:
“It’s a lot of hard work. We’ll have to pitch for it. I nominated myself. Nobody was doin’ nothin’. I’ve talked to Rahm Emanuel — he’s my friend. I talked to David Cohen, who’s committed. The Mayor’s given it the go-ahead. But yeah, I’m the main cheerleader. It’d be great for the city. I was involved with Rendell and Cohen in bringing the Republican Convention here [in 2000]. I thought it was a good idea. I even gave ’em a reception. You know, they’re my friends. Though it’d be nicer to have my real friends, my Democratic friends, here.”
