STORE UPDATE: Beans Beauty’s Soon-To-Open Center City Location!

Here's the latest on this Best of Philly winner's downtown expansion

Okay, so we know you’re all getting antsy for the Beans Beauty opening downtown, but stay patient: It’s coming soon, and it’s going to be totally worth it.

Owner Michael Batt’s three other Beans locations in Manayunk, Wayne and Doylestown include a full-service salon along with the beauty-supply boutique, and the 1733 Chestnut Street location (the same block as South Moon Under and Di Brunos Bros.) will be no different. Plus, Batt tells us this new spot was designed to be the flagship store for Beans — and will really be the most spectacular yet.

Part of what will make this store different from the others is its sheer space: When you walk in, you’ll find 2,700 square feet of all the fabulous body, skin, and hair products we’ve all come to trust Beans for (including lines like Bare Escentuals, DuWop, Redken, Paul Mitchell, OPI, Essie, Murad, and Art of Shaving). You’ll also find some brand new stuff, including Glominerals makeup, a beefed-up selection of organic lines, and products specially designed for beauty needs of many ethnicities. They’ll also be showcasing a more elaborate cosmetics layout, including their own in-house line they’ve been developing over the past several months. Above the retail boutique, you’ll find that the second floor is home to the state-of-the-art salon—and talented stylists— Beans’ customers swear by.

The whole space is marked by huge windows, 20-foot ceilings, curved walls, detailed flooring, and extreme attention to lighting. And, customers can rest assured they’re buying products and tools that have been hand-picked for their ability to deliver the highest quality results: Batt’s been a hairdresser for over 30 years and Beans, a family business, has been in operation since 1980.

The best part? Expect the boutique to be opened and ready for Black Friday shoppers, with the salon following shortly behind. If you can’t wait till the end of the month, be sure to check out the Manayunk, Wayne, and Doylestown locations or shop online at
