Drexel University: Arts of Fashion Symposium 2009
This year, Drexel’s fashion school has the very cool honor of hosting the 2009 Arts of Fashion Symposium. The days-long event, attended by scores of experts from the international world of fashion, hosts a series of lectures, film screenings, classes, trunk shows, fashion shows and after parties at area restaurants. Tickets that get you into everything cost $350 ($125 if you’re a student), or for $150 (including access to the after party), you can opt to just attend Wednesday night’s fashion show, which features successful designers who have all studied under names like Karl Lagerfeld, Dries Van Noten, Martin Margiela, to name a few, and is followed by a student competition (50 students from 21 different countries will compete).

Govberg Jewelers: Rolex Festival
This weekend, this Center City jeweler is holding a shopping event to benefit the Philadelphia Police Survivor’s Fund. Come in to have your Rolex appraised — or trade it in for a new one. There will also be a vast selection of pre-owned Rolexes there, specially priced for the weekend. Also look for gift bags from Rittenhouse Row partners, catering by Du Jour, Raw, and Naked Chocolate, and a spirit tasting sponsored by Philly mag on Saturday.
