Women’s Resource Center
To support women in five counties, this group serves as a referral service for career counseling, emotional support services, financial workshops and more.

DO: Assist with résumé editing.

Laurel House
A shelter for abused women and their children, Laurel House is set up to provide emergency assistance, as well as medical, legal and housing support.

DO: Help with the day-to-day operation (from answering phones to counseling residents).

Women Organized Against Rape
This organization helps those who have been victims of sexual assault, offering counseling and advocacy services and support such as accompanying a client to the hospital or court.

DO: Volunteer each month to answer the 24-hour hotline.

GIVE: $100 provides a group counseling session for five victims. 215-985-3315, woar.org

Women’s Opportunities Resource Center
This group aims to help low-income women (who make up 75 percent of their clientele) achieve financial independence.

DO: Be a mentor to a start-up business owner.

GIVE: $150 to cover one woman’s financial education course. 215-564-5500, worc-pa.com

Women’s Center of Montgomery County
This center’s services, mostly possible thanks to volunteers and offered at several locations in the county, include a 24-hour domestic violence hotline, counseling, and legal and medical advocacy. It helps more than 4,000 victims of domestic violence each year.

DO: Volunteer to work the crisis hotline, though you’ll need many hours of training.

GIVE: $35 for membership. (They distribute more than $28,000 each year to help relocate women and their children.) 215-635-7344, wcmontco.org

The Bucks County Women’s Fund
Their goal is to improve the quality of life of women and girls throughout the county. Recent grants include $4,000 to fund a New Moms in Recovery program at Aldie Counseling Center.

DO: Host an Endowa (a gathering of friends) to learn about the BCWF’s work.

GIVE: Money to help build the group’s endowment (currently at more than $100,000). 215-345-5440, bcwf.org
