Pulse: Style: A Doggie Day Spa
Just off bustling Lancaster Avenue in Wayne sits a new sanctuary for sore muscles, tense minds and weary … paws? Ah, yes, Dogma, which opened in October, is a full-service salon and day spa for canines, where Fido can seek respite in aromatherapy, full-body massages, hot oil treatments, spa baths and, naturally, “paw”-dicures. Owner, dog-lover and Philly native Linda Barsamian has spared no expense: Her retreat features French doors, crystal sconces and a glittering chandelier. But Barsamian, a former child therapist, knows that a dog’s well-being is more than fur-deep: Her treatment facility also employs a chiropractor and an acupuncturist to ease chronic discomfort, and a rehabilitation therapist who’ll work with pets on a state-of-the-art underwater treadmill. “Dogs give so much to their owners,” says Barsamian. “I wanted them to have a place they could go to feel good, too.” 105 North Aberdeen Avenue, Wayne, 610-341-DOGS; dogmadogspa.com.
