This is my business. I'd like to submit an update.

Asher Slaunwhite Architects is well-known for its design of "Asher Houses" which grace the streets; bays and beaches of exclusive New Jersey shore towns and Philadelphia and are recognizable for their elegant simplicity and timeless details. Founder Mark Asher; joined in 2018 by Partner Deborah Slaunwhite; leads a team of talented architects and designers who approach the design and construction process as a close collaboration between client; architect and building team; assuring the best possible experience for clients.

What's your background; education and training?

Mark Asher; AIA; NCARB is a graduate of Virginia Tech University School of Architecture. Deborah Slaunwhite; AIA; NCARB holds a B.Arch from the University of Notre Dame School of Architecture.

What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

It starts with a conversation. We meet with a prospective client to discuss their hopes and vision for their home. Then we present a proposal with services; fees; schedule. Next we delve deeper to determine the client's preferred style and requirements for the project; using websites to gather and share images. From there the initial designs are presented to the client for their feedback and input; and the design progresses from the general to the specific. Once the design is finalized we move on to the technical drawings and from there to assisting with finding a contractor and obtaining pricing. During the construction phase; we work with the client and building team to assure the vision articulated through the design process is carried out in the final product.

What advice would you give a customer looking to find a provider in your specialty?

Interview several architects and research their previous work. Review each architect's proposal carefully to make sure you understand what services are and are not included.

What services are you most excited to offer?

The wonderful thing about designing a custom home is that clients invite you into their lives. Over the years we've been privileged to work with hundreds of clients who feel like friends.

How many years have you been in business?

What do clients have to say about you?

"Mark Asher and his team of architects have been wonderful to work with. Their design work and attention to detail is excellent. But most importantly; from a builders perspective; they are very timely and professional in their responses to questions and situations that arise throughout the construction process. This keeps things running smoothly and avoids future misunderstandings and problems. Mark Asher dedicates a specific point person for each project that is very knowledgeable and intimate with all design details making for easy conversation and quick solutions. Excellent firm!"

"Our experience with Asher Architects was outstanding from start to finish. They were able to work with our sketchy ideas and uncertain vision; to develop preliminary plans which somehow captured the essence of what we thought we wanted/needed in our new shore home. As the process evolved they tweaked and rearranged elements beautifully; incorporating our suggestions and providing input until the final plans were far beyond our original expectations. The attention to detail and beautiful architectural accents resulted in a home which is uniquely suited to our family."

"We have had the pleasure of collaborating with Asher Architects on numerous projects over the past ten years. They continue to evolve as designers and each new project is a totally unique vision designed for the client's specific needs. In our kitchen design practice we work with many high end residential architects and their attention to detail; commitment to the project and relationship with the client is unique in the industry."
