A free panel taking place this evening, October 27, at Rutgers University Camden will discuss the barriers and difficulties that trans individuals often encounter when attempting to receive appropriate healthcare.

The discussion, scheduled for 6:30 pm at the Rutgers Camden Campus Center’s South BC Conference Room, will feature Rutgers Assistant Professor Katie Eyer, Sherman Leis, a Professor at the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine and Director of the Philadelphia Center for Transgender Surgery, Director of Programs for Garden State Equality Andrea Bowen, The Attic Youth Center’s Hazel Edwards, and Jaymie Campbell, Professional Development Manger for Mazzoni Center.

The panel will discuss “discrimination and bias facing transgender people, legal constraints, and advocacy for removing medical coverage barriers faced by transgender people” along with “guidance toward performance of transgender surgery.” The event is part of a free lecture series at Rutgers in honor of LGBTQ history month.
