DVLF Awards Six Organizations Grants for LGBT Initiatives

Last evening, the Delaware Valley Legacy Fund (DVLF) awarded six local service organizations, which featured innovative LGBT initiatives, a host of handsome grants for their work during a ceremony at Old City’s Positano Coast.
The programs that were presented with funds were as varied and unique as the people who attended the Monday evening mixer. Grants were awarded for organizations that offered both youth and senior LGBT programs, along with healthcare and workplace readiness initiatives.
There were two first-time grant recipients, Camden Area Health Education Center and the Support Center for Child Advocates. Camden AHEC received funding for programs surrounding trans youth, while the Support Center was awarded for their all volunteer-lawyer program.
Both the Jewish Family and Children’s Services and Action AIDS received grants for elder care initiatives, including an innovative medical case management program at Action AIDS. Valley Youth House received a $5,000 grant for their Pride Housing Program, which has kept over 113 LGBT young people off the streets. The Attic Youth Center also received funding for their successful career readiness initiative, part of their ongoing commitment to youth.
