Hollywood heartthrob Tab Hunter, who appeared opposite some of Hollywood’s most famous leading ladies (Sophia Loren, Gwen Verdon, Natalie Wood, and Debbie Reynolds, to name a few), will be coming to Philadelphia for an event to benefit qFLIX Philadelphia that will honor the out actor.

The qFLIX Philadelphia Lifetime Achievement Award ceremony will take place on October 20th, and will feature a VIP cocktail reception at the Prince Theatre, a small VIP dinner at The Prime Rib, plus a screening of the documentary Tab Hunter Confidential at the Prince followed by a Q&A session and an informal after-party.

If you’re booked on October 20th, you’re in luck: The producers of Tab Hunter Confidential are bringing the film back in November, from the 20 through the 26, at the Ritz at the Bourse.

Hunter, who starred in over 42 films, was not only a Hollywood heartthrob, but a semi-closeted one to start, with tabloids constantly linking him to some of the movie industry’s hottest actresses. However, behind closed doors, Hunter had a number of gay relationships, including ones with Rock Hudson and Anthony Perkins.

Gay audiences might best know him from several Divine movies, including Polyester and Lust in the Dust.
