Pope Francis has been invited to an event featuring Margie Winters, the fired Waldron Mercy Academy teacher, at the John C. Anderson apartments during his Philadelphia visit to hear about issues surrounding the LGBT community and Catholics.

The event titled LGBT Family Papal Picnic will be held on Saturday, September 26 at 251 South 13th Street from 1:30 to 3:30 pm and will feature Ms. Winters, Jim Kenney, and Mark Segal. Additionally, representatives from  Call to Action, Dignity USA, New Ways Ministry, Believe Out Loud, Fortunate Families, and OwningOurFaith will be on hand.

“Parents, children, teachers and caregivers will gather with leaders of LGBT Catholic support organizations to celebrate their faith and share their stories in the hopes of someday being invited to the table with other Catholic organizations globally and to eventually participate with the World Meeting of Families,” according to a representative for the event. No word on yet the Pope will actually attend.
