It’s National Gay Men’s HIV/AIDS Awareness Day
Today is National Gay Men’s HIV/AIDS Awareness Day, a moment to raise awareness around the epidemic and make resolutions to continue our safe-sex practices, because, according to the Mazzoni Center:
Gay and bisexual men remain among those most affected by HIV. While these men represent approximately 2% of the overall U.S. population, they accounted for 61% of all new HIV infections in 2009, according to CDC data.
Mazzoni will be offering free, rapid HIV testing today from noon to 5 p.m. at the Community College of Philadelphia. Look for its mobile testing unit on Spring Garden between 17th and 18th streets, or go here for more info.
Another thing to take note of today is that bedside table full of outdated condoms. It’s time to throw those bad boys out and replace them, and Lifestyles is making it easy with a free giveaway of their SKYN (aka “Closest Thing to Nothing”) condom. To redeem, you have to “like” the Lifestyles Condoms page, then go to the “LifeStyles Free Samples” tab, where you’ll be directed to fill out a quick address form. Easy, breezy, beautiful, cover that thing.
